Educ8 provide independent Alternative Education schools across England to support learners at risk of exclusion, or who are disengaged from mainstream education.
Initially formed in Leicester in 2009 by Jevon Payne and Tim Warner, Educ8 Leicester provided a single vocational sports programme as a part time alternative provision. Educ8 has since become a national independent provider that has developed both its vocational offer and broader curriculum across 5 locations.
Educ8 is a specialist education group providing independent school education and alternative provision for children and young people whose needs cannot be fully met within mainstream education. Our schools combine personalised learning, therapeutic support and aspirational pathways to help pupils re-engage with education, achieve recognised qualifications and prepare for adulthood.
Our governance and leadership structure brings together an Executive Board, an Executive Leadership Team and school leaders, with clear responsibilities for strategic oversight, school improvement and day-to-day provision. These arrangements keep educational quality, safeguarding and pupil outcomes at the centre of our decisions.

Our Governance & Leadership
Strong governance helps us provide safe, inclusive and high-quality education. Our structure sets clear responsibilities for governing the Group, leading improvement and running each school, with everyone working towards better outcomes for our pupils.
Executive Board
Sets strategic direction, oversees educational quality, safeguarding, finance and risk, and holds executive leaders accountable. The Board retains overall accountability for the Group.
Executive Leadership Team
Implements Board strategy, leads improvement across the Group, and supports and challenges Headteachers.
School Leadership
Headteachers are responsible for the day-to-day leadership and management of their schools, supported by deputies, school leadership teams, teachers and support staff.
Our Committees
Our Executive Board is supported by two specialist committees:
Curriculum & Standards scrutinises educational quality, safeguarding, inclusion and pupil outcomes.
Finance, Audit & Risk scrutinises financial performance, internal controls, compliance and organisational risk.
Both committees report their findings and recommendations to the Executive Board.
Regular school reporting, safeguarding reviews and independent quality assurance provide evidence of how our schools are performing, helping leaders identify priorities and enabling the Board to challenge, support and monitor improvement.
The Executive Board
Meet the members of our Executive Board, who bring together expertise in education, safeguarding, finance, people and organisational management. The Board normally meets once each academic term, with additional meetings arranged when needed.
Tim Warner
Chair
Director of Finance, HR, Governance, Risk
Cofounder and Chair of Educ8 with more than 20 years of experience within the education sector. A qualified accountant currently the group CFO with responsibilities for HR and risk management. He has experience of quality management with ISO9001:2000 and is a trained internal auditor.
Julie Price Grimshaw
Vice Chair
After teaching music and English for 16 years, she became a senior lecturer in education at Manchester Metropolitan University. She then joined Ofsted as HMI and was involved in over 200 inspections. Julie has extensive experience as a Chair of Governors in both primary and secondary schools and her current work involves governance and school improvement support for a range of schools and Trusts.
Jevon Payne
Director of Education, Safeguarding & Standards, Marketing & Communications
Cofounder of Educ8 with a wealth of experience across education. Has been the chair of governors for a PRU and has vast experience of youth work and supporting young people. Currently has oversight and coordination of assurance relating to Quality of Education (Curriculum & Teaching and Achievement) and Safeguarding.
Neil Prince
Director of Estates, Health, Safety & Compliance
Ex professional footballer who has been involved with coaching and supporting children for more than 11 years. He is the Managing Director of Community Multi Sports Coaching. He has been a primary school governor for over 5 years. He is currently responsible for estates management, health and safety, and statutory compliance relating to the school environment.
Holly Prince
Board Member
Holly is a school business manager at an independent school and brings 15 years of experience in education. Having previously worked for Educ8, she combines an understanding of the organisation with experience gained in another school setting. She serves voluntarily on the Executive Board, contributing a school business management perspective to its discussions and oversight.
Kirsty Mackey
Board Member
More than 10 years experience as Managing Director of PlayFit Kids Clubs overseeing 5 OfSTED registered preschools and childcare settings. Qualified first aid trainer and currently advising the board on child welfare matters.
Executive Leadership Team
Our Executive Leadership Team brings together expertise in school improvement, education, inclusion, safeguarding and quality assurance. Working across all Educ8 schools, the team turns the Board’s strategic priorities into action and provides professional support and challenge to Headteachers.
Each executive leader holds a defined portfolio, while the team shares responsibility for improvement across the Group. Headteachers retain day-to-day responsibility for their schools, and the Executive Leadership Team reports to the Board on progress, performance and emerging risks.

How We Monitor Quality and Improvement
Our governance arrangements are supported by regular school reporting, school improvement reviews, specialist safeguarding oversight and independent quality assurance.
Executive leaders, Board committees and portfolio directors review this evidence to identify strengths, challenge areas requiring improvement and monitor follow-up action. This helps the Executive Board make informed decisions and hold leaders accountable for the quality and safety of our provision.
